Teacher training from 8 schools in Maputo
Training carried out with the support of medicusmundi, within the framework of the implementation of the Project "Social Determinants of Health: The best strategy against COVID19 in Maputo" – 2021 - 2023, financed by the Municipality of Barcelona.

Promoting health inside and outside of schools
Between October 13 and 14, took place in Maputo a training for teachers from 8 primary and secondary city’s schools, on educational and awareness-raising materials, within the framework of the HEALTHY SCHOOL campaign.
Teachers and focal points from the following municipal districts were present at the training: KaMpfumu, Nlhamankulu, KaMaxaqueni, KaMavota, KaMubukwana and KaTembe.
The main objective of this training was to train teachers in school health promotion in the various topics covered in the materials developed, promoting health inside and outside of schools, so that students, teachers and school staff can change lifestyles. and adopt healthier behaviours. Among the various topics are, for example, personal hygiene, waterborne diseases, menstrual health and hygiene, first aid, stigma, discrimination and inclusion in school, climate change, among others.
The trained teachers committed to carrying out replications in their schools, so that the information reaches more people in the school community.
During the training, each teacher received an educational KIT, consisting of a brochure from the HEALTHY SCHOOL campaign and the respective manuals for primary and secondary schools, also available online for download (in Portuguese):
This activity was led by the Municipal Health Directorate (Department of Health), belonging to the Councillor Body of Health and Social Action, the Social Affairs Service - Department of Education, Sciences, Technology and Higher Education, and the respective District Education Directorates of the City of Maputo, with the support of medicusmundi, within the framework of the implementation of the Project "Social Determinants of Health: The best strategy against COVID19 in Maputo" – 2021 - 2023, financed by the Municipality of Barcelona.
