The network of organizations of the society “Alliance for Health”, Medicus Mundi and Fórum Mulher made, on June 6th of the current year, the delivery of donations to women survivors of Gender-Based Violence, in fulfillment of the Campaign for Collection of Donations that started last June.

The donation campaign was created with the aim of raising awareness among the authorities and the population in general about the social and public health problem represented by Gender-Based Violence and the need to ensure integrated care for women survivors through the channeling of donations and support. to the Shelter and Assistance Center for Women Victims of Domestic Violence in Vitole (not her real name). This action is part of one of the objectives of the Alliance for Health, which is to contribute to making the elimination of Gender-Based Violence a political and social priority in Mozambique.

As part of the donation, Victória Maiate (not her real name), Coordinator of the Center and Casa de Acolhimento, took the opportunity to thank her for the gesture and said that the Center is experiencing difficulties, despite the partners making efforts to enable the empowerment of sheltered women. , through technical and professional training, such as Cutting and Sewing, Basic Informatics, Poultry, among others, given at the Center.

Victória Maiate (not her real name) also mentioned that the Center has received women and their children, so, in addition to developing fun activities for the children, they are committed to their pedagogical use through a memorandum of understanding between the Center and the nearby primary schools.

Still in her speech, Maiate mentioned that the Center has a direct relationship with a nearby Police Station, in order to guarantee the direct participation of Police Agents, and with the CAIV of Ndhavela to provide psychosocial assistance to female victims.

Karina Dulobo, Gender Coordinator at medicusmundi, took the opportunity to congratulate the women for “making the decision to report and breaking out of the cycle of violence, which is very difficult for most women who suffer violence,” she said.

Karina also called on women to be in solidarity with each other, to encourage each other and to be agents of change, in order to guarantee the empowerment of other women.

In turn, Mangia Macuácua, Technical Assistant for Gender Projects at Fórum Mulher, thanked the coordinators of the Center for allowing this place to exist that gives support to women and, in the same way, for allowing this exchange of strengthening to take place.

It should be noted that this initiative, which strengthened women survivors of Gender-Based Violence, is linked to the Advocacy Campaign for the Expansion and Improvement of Assistance Services for GBV victims, which will be launched next Thursday, July 14, in Maputo.
