medicusmundi and Centro Terra Viva (CTV), partner organizations of the project “Associated miners of Cabo Delgado and Nampula practice dignified, ethical, clean and environmentally sustainable artisanal and small-scale mining”, financed by the Generalitat Valenciana (Spain) , held from June 10 to 15, 2024, training sessions for the mining cooperatives of Muva, Mavuco and Jagoma, in the districts of Mogovolas and Moma (Nampula’s province), in financial administration, registration systems, including creation of a management system.
With the training led by the Mozambican Association of Modern Cooperativism (AMPCM), a contracted consulting organization, the aim is to strengthen artisanal mining cooperatives, so that their members take control of their economic future and better adapt to the reality of a truly supportive company. And, at the same time, that the economic and social benefit of their activity remains in the communities where they are established. In the near future, these cooperatives will receive support with small capital funds so that they can boost their activity.
The training covered a total of 60 people from the three mining organizations, including their respective general assemblies, executive directorates and other members.
