Launch of the 16 Days of Activism 2025 Campaign in Montepuez

The district of Montepuez, in the province of Cabo Delgado, was the site of the official launch of the international 16 Days of Activism campaign against Gender-Based Violence, which this year is being held under the slogan "UNITE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls”.

medicusmundi, at the invitation of the Montepuez District Women's Health and Social Action Services, participated in the launch of the 16 Days of Activism 2025 campaign in Montepuez, under the slogan "UNITE to End Digital Violence against All Women and Girls", joining local authorities and partners to raise awareness and mobilize the community against this type of violence.

 

The ceremony was attended by local authorities, representatives of civil society, and partner organizations, including medicusmundi, which reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives to prevent and combat gender-based violence, with a special focus on online violence.

 

During the event, the various forms of violence affecting women and girls in the digital space were highlighted, including online harassment, cyberstalking, and the non-consensual disclosure of personal data. Participants emphasized the need to join forces to protect women's rights and promote a safe and inclusive digital environment.

 

medicusmundi, with extensive experience in health and human rights programs in Mozambique, reiterated that the campaign is an opportunity to raise awareness in communities, strengthen public policies, and empower young people and community leaders to identify and report cases of digital violence.

 

The launch in Montepuez marks the beginning of a series of activities that will take place until December 10, including discussions, training, and community mobilizations, with the aim of giving a voice to women and girls and promoting a more just and equitable society.
