Medicus Mundi shares knowledge gained from its health interventions and activities with academic, government, and civil society institutions at the 4th Cabo Delgado Provincial Scientific Health Conferences, with the support of Spanish Cooperation.
To make visible the knowledge generated through local experiences.
On September 29 and 30, 2026, medicusmundi participated in the 4th Cabo Delgado Provincial Scientific Health Conferences, held in the city of Pemba at the Íris University Campus, under the theme "Generating evidence to adapt, respond to, and rebuild the Cabo Delgado health system".
The conferences — jointly organized by the Cabo Delgado Provincial Health Directorate and Service (DPS/SPS) and the Pemba Operational Research Centre (NIOP) — provided a forum for sharing knowledge, experiences, and scientific evidence. It brought together civil society organizations, university and academic institutions, including the Pemba Health Sciences Institute), national and international cooperation agencies, and other health sector stakeholders in the province.
During the event, medicusmundi presented scientific posters detailing studies and initiatives conducted as part of its interventions in the areas of health and artisanal and small-scale mining. These presentations were led by the organization's staff, who shared results, lessons learned, challenges, and field experiences.
In addition to the scientific poster presentations, medicusmundi showcased materials from the Cabo Delgado’s workgroup of the Alliance for Health, highlighting the network's work in promoting the right to health and strengthening its core pillars of action: research, training, and advocacy.
Participating at these conferences helped to make visible the knowledge generated through local experiences, fostered the exchange of evidence and learning, and bridged the gap between research and practice. It also provided a space for reflection on the major health challenges facing communities in Cabo Delgado.
The presence of medicusmundi reinforces its commitment to the generation, systematization, and dissemination of knowledge, as well as to strengthening dialogue and collaboration among health institutions, civil society organizations, cooperation partners, and communities, thereby contributing to improved quality of and access to health services in the province.
This activity is part of the implementation of AECID Agreement 22-CO1-398, "Improving the quality, coverage, and resilience of the Cabo Delgado healthcare system", carried out by the NGO medicusmundi in collaboration with Mozambique's National Health System and funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
