Action implemented under the framework of Agreement 2022-CO1-398, funded by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID).
This meeting reaffirmed the commitment of Alliance for Health members to building a strong, sustainable, and strategically aligned network.
On May 22, 2025, a new meeting of the Alliance for Health took place at medicusmundi headquarters. The main objective of the meeting was to share the activity plans of each member organization and to foster a collective reflection on strategies and financing mechanisms that can ensure the network’s sustainability in the medium, and long term.
During the meeting, participants were divided into working groups for a brainstorming session, aimed at identifying potential resource mobilization opportunities, considering the country’s current economic and social context. After about two hours of dynamic and constructive discussions, a critical analysis of the Alliance’s current situation was carried out, resulting in proposals for potential funding sources for research, training, and advocacy.
The next meeting of the Alliance for Health has been scheduled for July. Prior to the meeting, a vote will be held among members to determine each organization’s financial contribution, as well as the type of structure the network will adopt. It was also agreed to prepare a document outlining how each member has been affected by this year’s funding cuts – particularly in the health sector – in order to highlight the impact of these reductions on civil society and their implications for the country’s development.
This meeting reaffirmed the commitment of the Alliance for Health members to building a strong, sustainable, and strategically aligned network with the challenges and opportunities of the health sector in Mozambique.
These meetings have the financial support of the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), implemented by medicusmundi, within the scope of Agreement 2022-CO1-398 “Improving the quality, coverage, and resilience of the Cabo Delgado healthcare system”.
