A powerful documentary about a new generation of Mozambican women, passionate and fighters, who raise their voices to combat inequality.
The story of Josina Machel, daughter of the first president, proves that gender-based violence makes no distinction between social strata.
Gender defines them at birth, society tries to stop them and chauvinism kills them. Produced as part of the project “Contributing to the defense, guarantee and exercise of a violence-free life for women in Maputo”, WOMAN is a powerful documentary about a new generation of Mozambican women, passionate and fighters, who raise their voices to fight inequality using hip-hop, rap, poetry, justice and social movements as tools for intervention, awareness and citizenship.
The film, funded by the Catalan Agency for Development Cooperation, has the participation of different public figures who, as women, lived or closely followed episodes of gender-based violence. Through the story of Josina Machel, daughter of the first Mozambican president, the documentary proves that gender-based violence makes no distinction between social strata and that all women are subject to violence.
WOMAN is a film about women with a strong message for the whole of society. Therefore, the première event will be open to all audiences and admission will be free.
