On 17 and 19 February, medicusmundi delivered bicycles to community activists working with the organization in the Resettlement Centres in the district of Ancuabe, as part of the project "Improvement of the health status of the displaced population in resettlement centres and communities in the districts of Montepuez and Ancuabe (Cabo Delgado)", financed by the Fons Mallorquí de Solidaritat i Cooperació.
We now have a means of transport that allows us to move around the village more easily.
A total of seven bicycles were allocated: four for the Nanona Resettlement Centre and three for the Nangumi Resettlement Centre, in proportion to the number of activists working in these communities.
This initiative aims to reinforce medicusmundi’s commitment to health promotion in resettled communities by facilitating the movement of activists to disseminate information on good hygiene and health practices, in addition to supporting other essential community activities.
For Babu Cheia, one of the beneficiary activists, the delivery of the bicycles is an important improvement in his work routine: ‘I thank medicusmundi for this initiative. We now have a means of transport that allows us to move around the village more easily, make visits, and get around more freely.’
The distribution was attended by the medicusmundi Assistant in Ancuabe, the Health Manager, and the Logistics Assistant of the organization, reinforcing the institution's commitment to improving the quality of life of the resettled populations.
Activity carried out within the framework of the project “Improving the health status of the displaced population in Resettlement Centres and the host population in the districts of Ancuabe and Montepuez (Cabo Delgado)”, financed by the Fons Mallorquí de Solidaritat i Cooperació.
