Social Determinants of Health

Shared commitment to promoting a more inclusive city that is sensitive to the needs of people with disabilities.

Today, at the Xipamanine Health Centre in Maputo, an artistic initiative of enormous symbolic significance took place as part of a public awareness campaign. It consisted of the creation of a collaborative mural focused on the inclusion of people with disabilities in accessing basic services, with a special emphasis on health services.

The mural involved the active participation of people with disabilities, healthcare professionals, and users of the facility, creating a space for dialogue, the exchange of experiences, and raising awareness about the importance of guaranteeing accessible and inclusive services for all.

The activity was coordinated by renowned visual artist Sebastião Coana, in collaboration with ADEMO and the Maputo Municipal Council, reinforcing their shared commitment to promoting a more inclusive city that is sensitive to the needs of people with disabilities.

Beyond its artistic value, the mural is an important tool for raising community awareness, contributing to the promotion of equal access to services and respect for the rights of people with disabilities.

This activity is part of the project "Improving municipal policies for people with disabilities in Maputo", funded by the Municipality of Barcelona and implemented by medicusmundi, in collaboration with the Maputo Municipal Council (CMM) and the Association of People with Disabilities of Mozambique (ADEMO).
