This support aims to improve the environmental sustainability of health facilities and provide them with equipment for better management of solid and hospital waste, at the level of the Nhamankulu Municipal District, where the project has been implemented since the beginning of 2024.
For the Councillor for Health and Quality of Life of the Maputo Municipal Council (CMM), Dr Alice de Abreu, “this initiative is very welcome, as it will help health units to better conserve solid waste, since it was difficult to separate common waste from hospital waste”. In the same vein, the councillor thanked medicusmundi for its support and collaboration in implementing improvements in solid waste management, thus contributing to the implementation of the 2024-2028 municipal development plan.
For his part, Ezequiel Mahumane, District Health Director of Nhlamakulu, in the presence of a few staff from the Xipamanine Health Centre, thanked “this new action carried out by medicusmundi and the Maputo Municipal Council (CMM)”. He added that “the material offered was missing and that, from now on, it will be possible to better manage the solid waste produced by the hospital units”. It is important to note that it is planned to cover other health centres in the Municipal District of Nhamankulu with the delivery of this type of equipment.
