Community action within the framework of the humanitarian aid project financed by the Generalitat Valenciana.
Supporting health centres more effectively in identifying, monitoring, and referring cases.
From May 14 to 16, 2025, a refresher training was held at the Administrative Post of Metoro, in the district of Ancuabe. The training was aimed at five community activists from the Muaja Resettlement Center, including two women and three men.
With a multidisciplinary approach focused on the needs of the communities, the training covered key topics such as Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Nutrition, Exclusive Breastfeeding, and Maternal and Child Health, as well as essential content in Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH). The training was facilitated through a partnership between the technical teams of the District Service for Health, Women and Social Action (SDSMAS) of Ancuabe and medicusmundi.
During the training, the importance of community information management was also emphasized, highlighting the need to review and update the data collection tools used by the activists in the field.
The training aimed to enhance the activists' ability to support health centres more effectively in identifying, monitoring, and referring cases related to maternal and child health, nutrition, psychosocial support, and gender-based violence, contributing to a stronger community response in resettlement and host areas.
One of the most noteworthy aspects of the activity was the enthusiasm shown by the activists throughout the training process, marked by active participation and constant engagement in the proposed activities, demonstrating their commitment to improving the quality of life in the communities they serve.
This initiative is part of the project “Improving the provision of quality health services to the displaced population and host communities of Ancuabe and Montepuez with a focus on particularly vulnerable groups” funded by the Generalitat Valenciana.
