District health services carry out mobile brigades in Ancuabe resettlement centres with support from medicusmundi, within the framework of the humanitarian project “Improving the provision of quality health services to the displaced population and host communities of Ancuabe and Montepuez with a focus on particularly vulnerable groups”, funded by the Generalitat Valenciana.
During the brigade, a total of 638 users were attended to, 229 adults and 311 children under the age of 5.
Continuing its efforts to improve the health of displaced populations, medicusmundi, in partnership with the Ancuabe District Health, Women's and Social Action Service (SDSMAS), held mobile health brigades at the Muaja Resettlement Centre on 27 and 28 February. The aim of this activity was to facilitate access to primary health care for the displaced population and the host community, especially for the most vulnerable groups.
The activity is part of the project “Improving the provision of quality health services to the displaced population and host communities of Ancuabe and Montepuez with a focus on particularly vulnerable groups”, funded by the Generalitat Valenciana. During the brigade, a total of 638 users were attended to, 229 adults (70 men and 159 women) and 311 children under the age of 5 (133 boys and 178 girls), 105 of whom received Vitamin A supplementation.
The services provided included psychosocial support, nutritional screening consultations, prenatal and postnatal consultations, family planning, care for victims of gender-based violence, child vaccination, among others. medicusmundi reinforces its commitment to continue improving the health conditions of the population in the resettlement centres and promoting universal access to health, a fundamental human right.
The activity was attended by the medicusmundi team, including the Provincial Project Coordinator in Cabo Delgado, the District Health Manager and the District Project Assistant, district health technicians, project activists, community leaders and community members from both the resettlement centre and the host community.
